Alabama tops NFL Draft’s bottom line at $129 million
For the fourth time in the past six years, Alabama sits on top of the bottom-line standing for the NFL Draft.
The bottom-line standings are a ranking of the total value of the contracts that will be signed by each college program’s draft class as the players enter the NFL.

Alabama and Georgia tied for the most players in this year’s NFL Draft with 10 apiece. But the Crimson Tide’s drafted players will sign contracts with a combined value almost $48 million more than will the Bulldogs’ 10 players.
Each drafted player receives a four-year contract. The values of those contracts are based on the NFL’s salary cap of $224.8 million for the 2022 season and this year’s rookie compensation pool in a formula spelled out in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the league and its players association. That makes it possible to estimate the money allotted to each draft slot (and the sports financial website spotrac.com has done so).
Because the values of the contracts decrease throughout the draft, the position of their drafted players makes the difference between Alabama and Georgia, with Ohio State between the SEC pair in the bottom-line standings, even though the Buckeyes had six players picked in this year’s draft.
Alabama quarterback Bryce Young and linebacker Will Anderson Jr. were the first and third players picked, and their contracts make up 57 percent of Alabama’s total of $129.104 million.
The Crimson Tide had four more players picked in the top 100 (and a near miss at 101). Like Alabama, Georgia produced three first-round draft picks on Thursday night, but two of the Bulldogs were picked after the last Crimson Tide player, and Georgia had only one more player in the top 100 as the Bulldogs came in at $81.164 million.
Ohio State also had three first-round players, including the second and sixth selections.

This is the sixth year in a row that an SEC program has captured the bottom-line title for the draft, with Alabama also winning in 2018, 2019 and 2021. LSU won in 2020, and Georgia won in 2022, when the Bulldogs produced a record 15 drafted players who signed contracts worth a combined $139.404 million.
The 10 college programs whose drafted players will sign for the most money this year include:
