Alabama to play 2024 show in Orange Beach

Legendary country group Alabama will bring its “Roll On II” tour to Orange Beach this spring, with Jamey Johnson along for the ride.

According to information released Friday by Live Nation, Alabama will perform at the Wharf Amphitheater on May 11, a Saturday. General ticket sales begin at 10 a.m. Friday, March 15, via Ticketmaster. Prices will range from $35.50 to $95.50 plus fees.

Few groups with ties to the state have had the success or the longevity of Alabama, which formed in 1969 in Fort Payne and adopted the state’s name in 1977. The group was a dominant force in country and pop in the 1980s, racking up more than 20 No. 1 hits. Its many signature songs include “Dixieland Delight,” “Mountain Music” and “My Home’s in Alabama.”

The group, which still features two founding members in Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry, re-launched its June Jam festival in 2023 and will hold it again in 2024. The event takes place June 1 in Fort Payne.
