Alabama Theatre 2024 holiday film series: Dates, movies, times, tickets
The holiday film series at the Alabama Theatre is coming back in 2024, with 17 screenings planned for Dec. 13-22. That’s reason to celebrate, if you love seeing Christmas classic and seasonal gems at the historic venue in downtown Birmingham. The annual series is a favorite here — including a festive screening of “Die Hard” — and movie fans get to see the theater decorated in holiday style.
Here’s the full series lineup at the theater, 1817 Third Ave. North:
- Friday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m., “White Christmas.”
- Saturday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m., “The Polar Express,” benefiting Kid One Transport.
- Saturday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m., “Elf.”
- Sunday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m., “Miracle on 34th Street” (1947 version).
- Sunday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m., “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
- Monday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m., “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.”
- Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m., “Home Alone.”
- Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 2 p.m., Cartoon Matinee Triple Feature (“A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”).
- Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m., “The Santa Clause.”
- Thursday, Dec. 19, at 2 p.m, “Elf.”
- Thursday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m., “Die Hard.”
- Friday, Dec. 20, at 2 p.m., “Home Alone.”
- Friday, Dec. 20, at 7 p.m., “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.”
- Saturday, Dec. 21, at 2 p.m., “A Christmas Story.”
- Saturday, Dec. 21, at 7 p.m., “Elf.”
- Sunday, Dec. 22, at 2 p.m., “White Christmas” Sing-Along.
- Sunday, Dec. 22, at 7 p.m., “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.”
Doors open one hour before showtime. Each event begins with a sing-along to music performed on the theater’s Mighty Wurlitzer organ. Tickets for all movies are $15 each, plus service charges, on sale now via Ticketmaster, plus service charges. Admission is free for children age 2 and younger. Seating is general admission: First come, first served.
