Alabama teen dies 10 days after wrecking truck into tree, authorities say
An Alabama teen critically injured after the truck they were driving struck a street sign and then a tree on Jan. 3 has died 10 days after the incident, authorities said Friday.
The teen, only identified as a 17-year-old juvenile from Deatsville, in Elmore County, was seriously injured when the 2003 Ford F-150 they were driving struck a street sign and a tree on Highway 21 near the 193-mile marker in Autauga County around 2:10 p.m. Jan. 3, said Sgt. Jeremy Burkett of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
The 17-year-old victim was taken to a local hospital where they died of their injuries Friday, said Burkett.
Further information was unavailable as state troopers continued to investigate the incident.
