Alabama stuck at No. 8 in College Football Playoff rankings despite win

Despite a blowout win over SEC foe Kentucky on Saturday, Alabama football remained stuck at No. 8 in the College Football Playoff top 25 rankings when they were revealed on Tuesday. The Crimson Tide has been eighth in all three weeks the rankings have been updated this season.

Alabama’s place has remained unchanged due to the seven schools ahead of the Tide continuing to win over the past few weeks. UA remains one spot behind Texas, which ranks seventh after beating Alabama during a Week 2 matchup in Tuscaloosa.

Michigan, Georgia, Ohio State, Florida State, Washington and Oregon also ranked ahead of the Crimson Tide. All of those teams, besides the Ducks, are undefeated.

The movement in the rankings began one spot behind the Crimson Tide. Ole Miss had previously been ranked ninth, but fell to Georgia in Athens on Saturday.

The Rebels fell all the way to No. 13 in the rankings. Meanwhile, Missouri jumped up to the No. 9 spot behind the Tide after beating Tennessee.

The Crimson Tide moved to 9-1 on the season, 7-0 in SEC play with Saturday’s 49-21 win over Kentucky. The win clinched the SEC West for UA.

Alabama will play Chattanooga Saturday In Tuscaloosa before finishing the regular season in the Iron Bowl at Auburn. The Tide will face Georgia in the SEC Championship game.

UA and Chattanooga are scheduled to kick off at 11 a.m. CT Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The game will be streamed on SEC Network+.
