Alabama stuck at No. 8 in coaches poll top 25 rankings despite win

Alabama football pulled off an unlikely win in the final minute at Auburn Saturday, connecting on 4th-and-goal from the AU 31 for a touchdown to survive the Tiger upset attempt. After the win, the Crimson Tide stayed stuck at No. 8 in the US LBM coaches poll, released on Sunday.

Alabama continued to be the second-ranked team in the SEC, behind Georgia, which was No. 1 in the poll. The Associated Press media poll will be released later on Sunday.

Alabama has been ranked No. 8 in the coaches poll since Oct. 15. The log jam ahead of the Crimson Tide has continued to be unmoving.

However, the top of the rankings saw movement this week due to the Michigan-Ohio State game. The Wolverines beat the Buckeyes 30-24 in Ann Arbor, even without head coach Jim Harbaugh, who was suspended due to UM’s sign-stealing scandal.

Michigan jumped one spot to No. 2 after the win. Ohio State fell down the coaches poll rankings to No. 6, where it was the second highest-ranked of the one-loss teams, behind Oregon, which checked in at No. 5.

Washington jumped up two spots to No. 3 in the coaches poll, while Florida State rounded out the top four. Texas, which beat Alabama in Week 2, remained on spot ahead of the Crimson Tide.

The College Football Playoff rankings will be updated on Tuesday. Alabama will be back in action Saturday against No. 1 Georgia in the SEC championship game in Atlanta.
