Alabama strength staffer Paul Constantine leaving for NFL job: Report

New Alabama football head coach Kalen DeBoer’s efforts to fill his staff will continue, with Crimson Tide strength staffer Paul Constantine heading to the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports on Tuesday. Constantine had served as Alabama’s director of applied science since 2022.

He had been with the Crimson Tide as a strength staffer since 2020. Constantine took the director role when Matt Rhea left for the New Orleans Saints.

Constantine led the strength and conditioning program alongside director of sports performance David Ballou, who remains with Alabama. The two-man setup was put in place under Nick Saban when longtime strength coach Scott Cochran left UA in 2020.

He had worked with both Rhea and Ballou at Indiana before joining the Crimson Tide in 2020. His wife, Janese Constantine, was previously an assistant coach with the Alabama women’s basketball team.

Constantine will become the third Alabama staffer to take an NFL job in recent days. He joined offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb and offensive line coach Scott Huff, who took jobs with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks, which were officially announced on Tuesday.

He’ll reportedly join the staff of new Falcons head coach Raheem Morris as associate director of strength and conditioning. Morris was hired to replace the fired Arthur Smith after Atlanta went 7-10 last season.
