Alabama storm damage photos: Trees fall from Mobile to Cullman
Severe weather blanketed much of the state on Monday night, with storms causing trees to fall from Mobile to Cullman counties as tens of thousands were left without electricity.
Some counties are bracing for the possibility of tornadoes overnight, including in southwest and south-central Alabama.
In Garden City, in Cullman County, a tree slammed into a home where three children were staying but the kids were reportedly left unscathed:
As of 9:32 p.m. Monday, nearly 25,000 customers were without electricity in Alabama, according to poweroutage.us. An overwhelming majority of those customers — nearly 19,000 — get their electricity from Alabama Power.
Among the hardest hit counties were Tuscaloosa (5,800 customers without power), Jefferson (4,440), Mobile (3,700) and Marshall (2,400.)
