Alabama still No. 8 in CFP rankings despite win, Ohio State loss
After a thrilling win in the Iron Bowl at Auburn, Alabama football didn’t move in the latest College Football Playoff rankings, released Tuesday evening. The Crimson Tide was ranked No. 8, just as it has been every week in the CFP top 25.
The Crimson Tide remained on spot behind Texas, which dealt UA its lone loss in Week 2. Both Alabama and the Longhorns were behind Oregon and Ohio State, which also have one loss each, despite the Buckeye loss coming Saturday to Michigan, which jumped from third to second.
OSU checked in at No. 6, while the Ducks jumped one spot to No. 5. The top four was composed of No. 1 Georgia, followed by Michigan, Washington and Florida State.
Missouri remained the third-ranked team in the SEC after beating Arkansas on Saturday. Ole Miss sat just outside the top 10 at No. 11.
If Alabama is going to make it into the top four, it’s going to need a win on Saturday in Atlanta. The Crimson Tide faces Georgia in the SEC championship game.
A victory doesn’t guarantee Alabama entry into the CFP, however, a loss would drop the Tide fully out of contention.
The game is scheduled to kick off at 3 p.m. Saturday in Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It will be aired on CBS.
