Alabama state senator says alternatives on the $3.5 billion I-10 project should be considered

An Alabama state senator on the Gulf Coast is concerned about the lack of financial commitments for the massive $3.5 billion Interstate 10 Bridge and Bayway project and is wondering if the project should be “de-scoped.”

State Sen. Chris Elliott, R-Josephine, speaking before the Eastern Shore Republican Women’s Club Thursday, said he is concerned the project needs “a lot of pieces falling just in line” so the financing makes sense. He also questioned whether it was time for local and state officials to reconsider some portions of the project out of concern whether the state can afford it.
