Alabama starter not practicing ahead of Saturday game vs. Georgia
Alabama starting center Charles Bediako did not practice Thursday or Friday ahead of the Tide’s Saturday evening game against Georgia, coach Nate Oats said.
“In us trying to get him back to 100 percent, he’s done rehab and trying to get him back,” Oats said Friday. “We’re going to see how he feels tomorrow and see whether he goes at all or not, and how many minutes we think he can give us.
“But he hasn’t practiced the last two days. We’re just trying to get him back to 100 percent as quick as we can.”
Bediako suffered a minor knee injury against Auburn last weekend and was a game-time decision Wednesday night at Tennessee. The 7-foot sophomore was cleared to start but played only 17 minutes, including only the first five minutes of the second half before he was subbed out of the 68-59 loss.
“You can tell he wasn’t close to 100 percent at Tennessee,” Oats said. “He was slow-moving. That’s why we didn’t play him as much there in the second half.”
Alabama’s next three games are against three of the six bottom teams in the SEC standings. Georgia comes to Coleman Coliseum with a 6-7 conference record before the Tide travels next Wednesday to South Carolina, which is 2-11. Alabama then returns home next Saturday against Arkansas (6-7).
