Alabama starter injured ahead of trip to No. 10 Tennessee
An Alabama starter is day to day after suffering what Nate Oats called a minor knee injury.
Center Charles Bediako injured his knee against Auburn, Oats said Tuesday afternoon ahead of a showdown at Tennessee. The 7-foot sophomore played through the injury in the 77-69 win at Auburn on Saturday but his status is unclear for the 6 p.m. CT Wednesday meeting with the No. 10 Vols.
Bediako is averaging 5.6 points and 5.3 points a game and is a defensive presence in the paint. The 28 minutes he played at Auburn were his most in the last 10 games, just one fewer than a dominant performance against Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe, the reigning national player of the year.
If Bediako can’t play Wednesday, Oats said senior Noah Gurley could get the promotion into the starting lineup.
