Alabama stars gets ‘life-changing’ invitation to tour with Post Malone

A hard-charging independent Alabama band has just thrown its September-October tour plans up in the air for a spectacular reason: They will open for Post Malone instead.

Muscadine Bloodline announced the news Wednesday, asking for “grace and understanding” from fans as they pursue a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Touring with Malone means the band must reschedule a run of dates that were to start this weekend.

In return, Muscadine Bloodline will open at about two dozen dates, including two in Alabama, for one of the moment’s biggest pop-music stars. Malone veered into country music with his newest album, “F-1 Trillion,” and the result is an undeniable blockbuster. According to Billboard.com, the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, the third time Malone has topped that chart, in addition to topping the country album, streaming album and top album sales charts.

The standard version of the album features 18 tracks; incredibly, all 18 of them hit the Billboard Hot 100 as the album was released. (It might have helped that 15 of the songs are collaborations with established country artists, from Morgan Wallen, Hank Williams Jr. and Jelly roll to Lainey Wilson, Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton.)

Muscadine Bloodline is an act formed by the Mobile-based duo of Charlie Muncaster and Gary Stanton. Their honky-tonk friendly, guitar-driven music has gotten the attention of Billboard before, but this tour promises to put them in front of tens of thousands of potential new fans. Muncaster and Stanton released their latest album, “The Coastal Plain,” in August.

They let fans know about the tour change in a social media post. It read, in full:

We got a curve ball of a life-changing call this morning and Post Malone just offered us to be direct support on the F-1 trillion tour. We’re talking Nissan Stadium, Fenway Park, arenas and amphitheaters across the country.

In our 9 years of doing this we would have never dreamed of an opportunity like this. To tour the country with one of the biggest artists in the world for his entire tour.

Only thing is the tour starts this weekend.

So, unfortunately we have to suspend the September and October legs of The Coastal Plain Tour, as difficult as it is to let some of y’all down on short notice (especially this weekend in Iowa and Minnesota). To be asked by Post Malone to take this undeniable, once in a lifetime opportunity… it’s something we have to do and will tell our grandkids about one day.

If you bought tickets for the September and October leg of Coastal Plain shows, you’ll be getting an email from point of purchase and we promise we will be making these cities a priority to return on our next tour.

We will still be playing the Redbull Jukebox in Nashville on October 2nd, and the shows scheduled in November for the Coastal Plain Tour are still a go.

We are praying for grace and understanding from y’all cause yall’s supported us this far and from day one we’ve always strived to make being a part of muscadine bloodline a family, it’s afforded us this huge opportunity as independent artists and proves anything is possible.

We will see y’all on the F-1 Trillion tour this fall with @postmalone

The F-1 Trillion tour kicks off Sunday and Monday, Sept. 8-9, in Salt Lake City. It features two Alabama dates: Oak Mountain Amphitheatre on Oct. 15 and the Wharf Amphitheater in Orange Beach on Oct. 17. Live Nation and Ticketmaster show a few unsold seats left at each venue, plus more available through verified resale.
