Alabama softball will host regional to open NCAA Tournament
Alabama softball will host a regional to open the 2024 NCAA Tournament. The Crimson Tide will face South Carolina-Upstate in its first game, with Southeastern Louisiana and Clemson also in the bracket.
The Tide were one of the final schools selected to host the regional. UA is the No. 14 overall seed in the tournament.
Alabama’s first game of the tournament is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. CT at Rhoads Stadium. It will be aired on ESPN+.
The Crimson Tide was one of eight SEC schools that will host its regional. Tennessee was the highest-ranked team in the conference, coming away with the No. 3 overall seed.
All 13 teams currently in the SEC made the tournament. Future SEC schools, Texas and Oklahoma, earned the event’s top two overall seeds.
Alabama enters the tournament 33-17 overall. The Tide finished SEC play 10-14, and dropped in 14 innings to LSU in its first game of the SEC tournament.
USC Upstate stands at 30-21 overall. The Spartans earned their spot in the NCAA Tournament by taking home the Big South championship.
Clemson comes in 30-17 overall, with a 15-9 record in ACC play. The Tigers fell to Duke in their conference tournament.
Southeastern Louisiana earned its berth in the NCAA Tournament by winning the Southland Conference. The Lions enter the tournament with a 45-17 record.
The double-elimination bracket will begin with Southeastern Louisiana and Clemson. That game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Rhoads Stadium and will be aired on the ACC Network.
