Alabama sinks to lowest coaches poll ranking since 2015
Alabama fell out of the top 10 of the AFCA coaches poll for the first time in more than seven years, earning a No. 11 ranking in the latest poll released Sunday.
The Tide’s 32-31 overtime loss Saturday to LSU, its second of the season, caused Alabama to fall five spots from its No. 6 ranking in the coaches poll last week.
In the Associated Press poll, Alabama fell four spots to No. 10, also its lowest ranking since 2015.
Alabama will next face Ole Miss, which moved from No. 10 to No. 9 in this week’s coaches poll after its open week. Next Saturday’s trip to Oxford will be the first time since 2019 that Alabama will play a higher-ranked team in the regular season.
Alabama stayed ahead of No. 11 Ole Miss in the AP poll.
The last time Alabama fell outside of the top 10 of the coaches poll was in September 2015, when it dropped to No. 12 then No. 13 after an early-season loss to Ole Miss. The Tide later won a national championship.
Before that, Alabama had not found itself outside of the top 10 of the coaches poll since 2010.
The next College Football Playoff weekly rankings will come out Tuesday night.
