Alabama severe weather sales tax holiday begins Friday
Alabama’s prime severe weather season kicks off in March, and it’s time to get prepared.
In an effort to encourage Alabamians to stock up on supplies the state of Alabama and various local governments plan to drop the sales taxes on certain severe weather preparedness supplies — this weekend only.
The severe weather sales tax holiday goes into effect at midnight Friday (Feb. 24) and lasts until midnight on Sunday (Feb. 26).
Not all municipalities will participate. Here is a list of who is taking part, and who is not.
Items eligible for the sales tax holiday include:
* Batteries, including cell phone batteries
* Cell phone chargers

Alabama has had a busy year for tornadoes already — with a record 29 in January.
Typically the most active months for severe weather in the state are March and April. November and the winter months are also active.
