Alabama severe weather damage:
Severe storms roared through northwest Alabama on Friday night and into early Saturday morning, with damage reports including a person pinned in a car in Florence and widespread power outages.
A tree reportedly fell on the trapped person’s vehicle in the Seven Points area of Florence, according to the NWS, which shared the damage report at 11:22 p.m. Friday.
Minutes earlier, the NWS’ office in Huntsville received reports of many trees down — in some cases trees toppled on houses — in Sheffield and Tuscumbia.
“Widespread power outages have also been reported,” the agency said.
Around midnight Saturday, the NWS received a report of roof damage and multiple trees and powerlines down in Hamilton, in Marion County, where a tornado-warned storm moved through earlier tonight.
A resident of a Florence apartment complex behind Sam’s Club who recorded the storms said the complex sustained “lots of damage,” including destroyed fences and two-by-fours that slammed into multiple cars:
In Killen, in Lauderdale County, the strong winds produced by the storms picked up a trampoline and dunked a portion of it into a swimming pool:
