Alabama severe weather: About 13,000 remain without power

After severe weather swept through Alabama on Tuesday, many across the state found themselves without electricity.

As of shortly after 6 a.m. Wednesday, there were more than 400 outages across the state, affecting some 13,000 Alabama Power customers, the utility reported.

The bulk of the outages seem to be near Montgomery and Auburn, as well as in Jefferson County.

There are also clusters of outages in or near Mobile and Talladega.

AL.com is working this morning to gather information about storm damage in the Montgomery area. According to the county emergency management agency, trees and power lines are down.

Montgomery city officials have set up a command center to respond and assess the damage.
