Alabama school closings, delays for Wednesday, Feb. 19 as snow, winter weather threat loom
With the threat of snow, sleet, freezing rain and other wintry weather conditions, several Alabama school districts have announced changes in plans for Wednesday.
The winter storms are forecast to hit north and north-central Alabama on Tuesday night, creating hazardous road conditions into Wednesday.
The rest of the state is expected to only get a cold rain because temperatures should stay above freezing.
Total snow accumulations up to 1 inch and ice accumulations around a light glaze will be possible.
Here are the schools and school districts that have made changes to their Wednesday schedules:
Athens City Schools: Remote learning Wednesday
Blount County Schools: Remote learning day Wednesday; two-hour delay Thursday
Etowah County Schools: Two-hour delay Wednesday
Hartselle City Schools: Closed Wednesday
Marion County Schools: Closed Wednesday
This list will be updated as more school districts announce changes to their schedules.
