Auburn cornerback Roger McCreary joined Tennessee in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and the Titans put him to work.

The Williamson High School star played 1,165 defensive snaps during the 2022 regular season, more than any other NFL defensive back.

McCreary also played more snaps at his position than any other player from an Alabama high school or college during the 2022 regular season with 11 more than Cleveland Browns left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr.

But because Wills had 63 special-teams snaps and McCreary had 49, Wills was the player with Alabama football roots who spent the most time on the field during the 2022 regular season with a total of 1,217 plays.

One other player from an Alabama high school or college got on the field for at least 1,200 plays in 2022 – New York Jets middle linebacker C.J. Mosley with 1,114 defensive snaps and 95 special-teams plays.

The Alabama-roots player who was on the field for the greatest amount of his available snaps was Chicago Bears linebacker Nicholas Morrow. The Huntsville High School alumnus missed two of the Bears’ 1,088 defensive snaps, a playing rate of 99.82 percent.

McCreary missed three snaps, playing 99.74 percent of Tennessee’s defensive snaps.

Two other players from Alabama high schools and colleges played at least 99 percent of their available snaps. In his 13th NFL season, safety Kareem Jackson played all but five of the Denver Broncos’ 1,144 defensive snaps (or 99.56 percent) and left tackle Jonah Williams played all but six of the Cincinnati Bengals’ 1,101 offensive snaps (or 99.46 percent) during the regular season.

In addition to McCreary with the defensive backs, the leaders in snaps by position in the 2022 regular season included DeVonta Smith of the Philadelphia Eagles. The former Alabama All-American’s 1,083 offensive snaps led the league’s wide receivers.

The 17 players from Alabama high schools and colleges who played at least 1,000 offensive or defensive snaps in the 2022 regular season include:

Seven alumni of Alabama football roots were on the field for at least 250 special-teams plays during the 2022 regular season. The busiest special-teams players included:
