Alabama prep running back star transferring out of state

One of Alabama’s top high school running backs is leaving the state to play his final two years.

Pike Road’s Anthony Rogers announced on social media Wednesday that he had transferred to IMG Academy in Florida.

The 5-foot-8, 180-pound Rogers, a 4-star prospect, was the top running back in the state in the Class of 2025 and the No. 6 player overall, according to 247 sports.

Rogers helped the Patriots to the Class 5A state championship as a freshman in 2021. He rushed for 839 yards and 13 TDs that season and caught six touchdown passes while splitting time with current Ole Miss star Quinshon Judkins.

As a sophomore in 2022, Rogers rushed for 1,626 yards and 22 touchdowns on 187 carries as the Patriots moved up to Class 6A. He also had two TD receptions and returned a kickoff for a score. He was a first-team All-State selection.

According to 247 sports, Rogers already has college offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida and Florida state among others.

Pike Road just named its third head coach in as many years. Patrick Browning left after winning the state championship and is now at Alabama State. Ed Rigby resigned earlier this year and is now at Luverne.

The school named former Trinity head coach Granger Shook as the new coach this morning.
