Alabama picks up another 2024 football commit

Alabama picked up an eighth commitment for its 2024 football recruiting class on Saturday morning.

Offensive lineman Joseph Ionata, a three-star offensive lineman from Clearwater, Florida, made his pledge known on social media. His father is Joey Ionata, a former star offensive lineman at Florida State.

Playing at Calvary Christian in Clearwater, the younger Ionata is the No. 70 interior lineman in the 2024 class, according to 247Sports. Overall, he’s ranked 977th.

Ionata also had offers from the likes of Miami, Appalachian State, Army and Boston College, according to his 247Sports profile that lists him at 6-foot-3, 280 pounds.

Alabama’s 2024 class is No. 11 in the 247Sports national rankings, one spot behind South Carolina and one ahead of Florida, following Ionata’s commitment. The Crimson Tide has three five-stars in the group and four four-stars.
