Alabama OT Kadyn Proctor played in Rose Bowl with torn ligament in right ankle

Alabama freshman left tackle Kadyn Proctor played the Rose Bowl against Michigan with a torn ligament in his right ankle. Proctor said the injury occurred in practice last week, he confirmed to AL.com

“Trying to treat it all week,” Proctor said after Alabama’s 27-20 overtime loss to Michigan in the College Football Playoff semifinal game. “Today, tried to shoot it up. It felt good. It felt good today, played the whole game I’m proud I played the whole game with me injured.

“We’ve had some long meetings. Had long talks with our doctors and trying to figure out a good plan for us to get me on the field as fast as we can. We put a good plan together. The doctors did a great job.”

Proctor wasn’t with the first-team group in the initial part of warmups when Alabama took the field on Monday afternoon. Instead, backup Elijah Pritchett — who was in the transfer portal two weeks ago and was arrested last week — worked with the starters. But by team seven-on-seven drills and kickoff, Proctor was in his usual spot.
