Alabama offers scholarship to running back Bo Jackson

Alabama has offered a scholarship to a running back in the 2025 recruiting class whose name you might have heard before — Bo Jackson.

Seriously, that’s his name (or at least his nickname).

Lamar “Bo” Jackson is a four-star recruit out of Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School in Cleveland, Ohio. He is rated the No. 8 running back and the No. 101 overall player in the 2025 class according to 247 Sports Composite.

Jackson announced via Twitter/X on Monday that he’d received a scholarship offer from the Crimson Tide. He tagged Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer, running backs coach Robert Gillespie and secondary coach Colin Hitschler (who spent several seasons coaching at Cincinnati) in his post, which was liked by Alabama assistant director of player personnel Jerret McElwain, among others.

Alabama famously failed to sign the “original” Bo Jackson (given name: Vincent) out of McAdory High School in the 1982 recruiting class, with Jackson later indicating then-Crimson Tide assistant Ken Donahue told him he might not start until his junior year. Jackson of course signed with Auburn, and not only started as a freshman, but scored the winning touchdown vs. Alabama in that year’s Iron Bowl and went on to win the Heisman Trophy as a senior in 1985.

According to 247 Sports, this Bo Jackson also has scholarship offers from Florida, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Wisconsin … but not Auburn (at least not yet).
