Alabama offensive lineman announces transfer portal entry
Alabama football offensive lineman Terrence Ferguson II is entering the transfer portal he announced on Wednesday. Ferguson will join Crimson Tide starting center Seth McLaughlin, who will reportedly also enter the portal.
Ferguson announced the news on social media in conjuction with Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports. He will have two years of eligibility wherever he ends up.
The 6-foot-4, 322-pound Ferguson can play both guard and center. He joined Alabama as a member of the recruiting class of 2021.
Ferguson was a four-star recruit out of Peach County in Georgia. Before the 2023 season, Nick Saban said he was competing for a starting job with the Tide.
“He’s gotten bigger and stronger,” Saban said in August. “He’s also been very explosive and had an explosive power and body quickness. And he’s very confident in what he’s doing. We’re playing him at center some too which he’s done a good job of that. He’s showing a lot of maturity, and I look at him as a starter on our team. I think we have six or seven guys who may be starters.”
Ferguson started one game for Alabama this season, against South Florida in Week 3. He dealt with a high ankle sprain which caused him to miss time.
Alabama’s season came to an end in the College Football Playoff semifinals Monday, with an overtime loss to Michigan. In addition to the reported impending entry of McLaughlin, wideout Shazz Preston and tight end Miles Kitselman also announced they will be jumping into the transfer portal.
The portal is closed for most FBS players at this point, but Alabama’s get an extra window after playing the CFP.
