Alabama NFL roundup: Derrick Henry plays like himself
“How high’s my confidence level?” Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry said, repeating a question at his postgame press conference. “On me playing? I’m going to be me each and every Sunday, so, I mean, me.”
On Sunday, Henry was himself against the Washington Commanders as he ran for 102 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries and caught two passes for 30 yards in the Titans’ 21-17 victory.
Henry scored on a pair of 1-yard runs to become the 33rd player in NFL history to reach 70 rushing touchdowns.
Henry’s second touchdown came with 1:03 left in the third quarter and the Titans trailing 17-14.
Henry has had at least 28 rushing attempts in 15 games for Tennessee (13 regular season and two postseason), and the Titans have a 14-1 record in those contests.
Tennessee started the 2022 season with two losses in which the two-time NFL rushing ran for 107 yards and one touchdown on 34 carries and had no receptions. Sunday’s victory gave the Titans a three-game winning streak with Henry running for 301 yards and four touchdowns on 70 carries and catching 10 passes for 121 yards.
“We just got to play complementary football and put it all together on Sundays,” Henry said. “No matter how it goes or how we win, it’s a win. Just enjoy these three wins in a row. It’s hard to win in this league. Happy that we were able to turn things around.”
