Alabama native starts in his first Super Bowl commercial

Walton Goggins, a Birmingham native and actor in the hit series “Justified,” “White Lotus” and “Fallout,” will star in his first-ever Super Bowl commercial for GoDaddy Sunday.

In the commercial spot, which promotes GoDaddy Airo, the company’s AI-powered tool for small business owners, Goggins, 53, makes fun of his own profession, according to People.

“Actors,” he begins. “We have the power to convince the world we know what we’re doing. When in fact, we do not.” He continues to show off his “talents” playing a detective, astronaut and race car driver.

The spot is tied to Goggins’ own business, Walton Goggins Goggle Glasses, which he launched in November.

The glasses are described as “a sexy pair of shades that move with you as you dance to the rhythm of life.”

Goggins stated in an open letter on the website that he wanted to create “a pair of stylish sunglasses that expressed and integrated with my inward and outward journey.”

While shooting the ad in Mexico City several months ago, Goggins created a reel of bloopers and silly moments where he couldn’t help but laugh.

Goggins told People that he won’t be pulling for either team in Sunday’s Super Bowl game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, citing his high school sports career in Georgia.

“I just like to watch the game,” he told People. “I am from a small town in Georgia, and it’s like Friday Night Lights was my real-life experience. I played ninth to 12th grade, and life very much revolved around the pep rallies, the Friday night games, going to Shoney’s after with the team and cheerleaders. And I absolutely loved it.”
