Alabama Nate Oats physically separates Missouri player from Bama bench
Alabama basketball coach Nate Oats helped physically separate a scrum between an Alabama player and Missouri forward Aidan Shaw in the first half of Tuesday night’s game.
The play came after a tie-up between another Missouri’s Anthony Robinson II and Tide guard Aaron Estrada in front of the UA bench. After separating, and with an official in the way, Oats stepped in front of Shaw, shoving him away with a finger while pointing toward the Mizzou bench.
A personal foul was issued to only Estrada with 7:34 left on the clock, UA up 24-15. A media timeout followed and no technical fouls were issued as play resumed.
Per the updated Southeastern Conference commissioner’s regulations: “Consistent with SEC Bylaw 10.5, all individuals employed by or associated with a member institution, including institutional staff members, student-athletes, boosters, and fans, are expected to conduct themselves with honesty, integrity, and good sportsmanship, and shall therefore exhibit respect and courtesy towards opposing student-athletes, coaches, and game officials.”
The game continued with Alabama leading at halftime looking for its fourth conference win to start the year. New Tide football coach Kalen DeBoer addressed a student-heavy crowd during the intermission at Coleman Coliseum.
