Alabama moves to season-high in coaches, AP media top 25 polls

Alabama men’s basketball moved up two spots in both the coaches and AP media top 25 polls when they were released on Monday. The Crimson Tide stands at No. 13 in both polls.

The spot represents a season-high for Alabama. It comes following recent wins over LSU and Texas A&M.

Alabama moved one spot ahead of Auburn, which sits at No. 14 in both polls.

Alabama currently leads the SEC standings, with six conference games left to play, holding a 10-2 conference record. The Tide faces Florida Wednesday in Tuscaloosa next, before a Saturday trip to Kentucky.

Alabama stands at 18-7 overall. It had fallen out of the polls early in the season due to some losses.

Kentucky moved up five spots to No. 17 in the AP poll and three spots to the same position in the coaches top 25. The Gators moved into the AP poll at No. 24, but were not included in the coaches poll.

At 9-2, the Crimson Tide holds a one-game lead over Tennessee. The Volunteers beat UA in Knoxville earlier this season, but the return trip to Tuscaloosa on March 2 could be a massive game in settling the regular-season title.

After Auburn lost to Kentucky, Alabama has a two-game cushion over both the Tigers and South Carolina.

Alabama’s SEC season is set to end on March 9. The conference tournament is scheduled for March 13-17 in Nashville.
