Alabama mom stops would-be kidnapper from taking her child, sheriff says
A mother spotted a man attempting to lure her daughter into leaving with him and pulled the child away just as the would-be kidnapper got his hands on the child, according to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident took place Sunday on Danner Road in Wilmer, according to a release from the MCSO. The suspect, identified as 64-year-old Paul Patrick Samson, was seen by the child’s mother as he was enticing the young girl to leave with him.
After the mother grabbed her daughter away from Samson, he left in his vehicle and the mother called 911.
Monday, detectives arrested Samson and charged him with 1st-degree kidnapping, according to the Mobile Metro Jail docket.
Sheriff Paul Burch said his department has received several calls about Samson.
“We have received several calls about SAMSON after his arrest,” Burch said. “If you see something, say something. Because of this mother’s quick response to reporting, we were able to identify the suspect and take him into custody.”
Samson remained in the Mobile Metro Jail as of early Tuesday afternoon, held without bond pending an initial court appearance.
