Alabama metro where homes are selling for the most over asking price
There’s been a slowdown in the housing market but homes are still selling and increasing in price. The increase in price is especially true in some places where homes continue to attract more than asking price.
Ranking site Stacker recently found only 30 metros currently have homes that are selling at or over asking price. Using data from Redfin, Stacker then ranked the metros to see which had the most homes selling over asking price, based on the average sale-to-list ratio (the mean ratio of the home sale price divided by the list price).
Data shows sales for the week ending Dec. 25, 2022.
Only one Alabama metro made the list of the top 30: Auburn.
Here are the stats for the Auburn metro area:
- Average sale to list ratio: 1.002
- Total homes sold: 25
- Median sale price: $320,000
The metro area with the greatest number of homes selling over list price was Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Here are those stats:
- Average sale to list ratio: 1.074
- Total homes sold: 25
- Median sale price: $210,000
