Alabama man texts 911 he was kidnapped so he and girlfriend could ‘work their relationship out’

Two men were arrested over the weekend after a man allegedly told dispatchers by text message that he had been kidnapped.

WHNT is reporting that Jessie Ryan Fain Jr., 21, and Clayton Ty Calahan, 18, have been charged with second degree kidnapping, and are being held at the Marshall County Jail on a bond of $15,000 each.

According to police, the incident began around 5:40 p.m. Saturday. Morgan County 911 received a text message that a man had been kidnapped from his home in Decatur and taken to a residence in Arab on Second Street.

The man was able to text after he retrieved his phone, because the men responsible had handcuffed him in front of his body, according to WAAY.

Officers arriving at the Arab address found the victim still handcuffed, sitting in the living room. There were two other men in the home, police said, later identified as Fain and Calahan.

The unnamed victim told police that Fain and Calahan said they were going to take him to his girlfriend’s house so they could “work their relationship out.” He was handcuffed to keep him from attacking them, they said.

The men appeared armed with a gun, which was later determined to be an air pistol, according to police.

When they arrived in Arab, the victim realized they were going in the opposite direction of his girlfriend’s house. He then texted dispatchers, asking for help.
