A 69-year-old man was killed when the lawnmower he was driving was struck by a pickup truck.

Alabama State Troopers identified the fatality victim as Richard H. Fetner. He lived in Lafayette.

The wreck happened at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday on Alabama 77, about eight miles south of Wadley in Chambers County.

Trooper Sgt. Jeremy Burkett said Fetner was operating a Kubota lawnmower when a Chevrolet Colorado driven by 58-year-old Nathanile M. Cole, also of Lafayette, struck the lawnmower from behind.

Fetner was pronounced dead on the scene.

The investigation is ongoing by troopers.
