Alabama man impersonated a Limestone County investigator, authorities say
An Elkmont man has been arrested after Limestone County authorities say he impersonated a sheriff’s office investigator.
Robert Shaun Bowman, 45, has been charged with impersonating a peace officer. He was released from the Limestone County Detention Facility on $2,500 bond.
Investigators say more charges could follow.
On June 12, deputies received a domestic violence complaint. During the investigation, they discovered that Bowman had been impersonating Investigator Jesse Gibson.
According to the sheriff’s office, Bowman identified himself as Gibson to people other than the victim. He then ordered them to have the victim contact Bowman, in order to harass the victim.
Bowman was arrested Tuesday at his residence after a brief standoff with Limestone County deputies.
“I’m proud of our investigators for working fast to apprehend this offender. Impersonating a peace officer is serious, and we don’t take it lightly,” Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin said.
