Alabama man found dead under car had multiple injuries from hogs, coroner says

An investigation is underway after a man was found dead under his car in east Alabama.

The 51-year-old man, whose name has not yet been released, had multiple injuries from his hogs, but authorities don’t yet know the cause of his death.

Calhoun County Coroner Pat Brown said it’s unclear at this point if the man suffered a medical event and then was attacked by the hogs or if the hogs caused his death.

First responders were dispatched about 3:30 p.m. Monday to property off Highway 78 in Piedmont where they found the man dead under his car, which was surrounded by the hogs.

“We believe the event happened Sunday,’’ Brown said.

The hogs, Brown said, belonged to the man.

The investigation is ongoing.
