A Florence man died Monday after authorities say he was struck by lightning.

Florence police Sgt. Ryan Kelly said the incident happened in the parking lot of the Florence Industrial Park, 3155 Kendall Drive.

Florence police, fire and EMS responded to a medical call and found a 28-year-old man struck by lightning.

The man “sucumbed to injuries he received during the storm,” Kelly said.

The victim’s name has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

Parts of North Alabama were once again buffetted today by severe weather.
