Alabama man faces charges in arson spree involving mobile homes, vehicles, shed

A Lauderdale County man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he set fire to two mobile homes, two vehicles, a shed, and was caught pouring gasoline on a house.

Sheriff Joe Hamilton said deputies were called to the 31000 block of County Road 8 Wednesday at about 6:08 p.m., along with officers from the St. Florian and Killen police departments.

The first officer on the scene found a man, later identified as Zachary Blake Lambert, 31, of Greenhill, pouring gasoline on a house.

When he spotted the officer, Hamilton said, Lambert picked up a compound bow and arrow. The officer subdued him and took him into custody.

Multiple area volunteer fire departments, from Greenhill, Killen, Zip City, Mid-Lauderdale and Lexington, responded to the structure fires.

Lambert faces charges of attempted murder of a peace officer, two counts of second degree arson, second degree attempted arson, domestic violence menacing, resisting arrest and first degree criminal mischief. He is being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center without bond.

Lauderdale County investigators and the Alabama Fire Marshals are continuing to investigate.
