Alabama man charged with murder in wreck that killed pregnant Illinois woman
An Athens man has been indicted on murder and other offenses in connection with a Limestone County crash that killed a pregnant Illinois woman last year.
A Limestone County grand jury indicted Hayden Rose, 21, on two counts of reckless murder, two counts of reckless manslaughter, DUI and leaving the scene of an accident, court records showed.
The October 2022 wreck occurred on Zehner Road south of Highway 72, when Laurine Hernandez’s car left the road, hit a ditch and flipped over, ejecting one passenger.
Hernandez, of Quincy, Illinois, was seven months pregnant at the time of the wreck.
She was transported to Athens Limestone Hospital where she later died from her injuries.
The charges against Rose were filed Wednesday.
