Alabama man charged in fiery DUI crash that killed his wife
An Alabama man has been indicted in a DUI traffic crash that killed his wife.
Jacob P. Dease, 45, is charged with reckless murder in the Dec. 28, 2024, death of his wife, 50-year-old Indea L. Dease.
Dale County sheriff’s deputies took Jacob Dease into custody Monday, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency officials announced Wednesday. He is being held without bond in the Dale County Jail.
Charging documents against the suspect state he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash.
The wreck happened at 9 a.m. that Saturday on Dale County 72, about five miles east of Ariton.
Authorities said Jacob Dease was driving a Nissan Titan that left the roadway and struck a tree. Upon impact, the Nissan became engulfed in flames.
Indea Dease was pronounced dead on the scene. Her husband was also injured and taken to a Dothan hospital.
According to Indea Dease’s obituary, she was a native of Ariton and an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan. She left behind three sons.
