Alabama man beat great-grandchild with cattle prod, authorities say
A Marshall County man faces two charges of aggravated child abuse after authorities say he beat a child with a cattle prod.
Michael Robert Taylor, 67, of Albertville, was arrested last Thursday.
He was booked into the Marshall County Jail with a bond of $25,000 and bonded out on May 9.
According to court records, Taylor is the great-grandfather of the victim, who is under the age of 18.
He had “temporary care of custody” of the child and “did torture, willfully abuse, cruelly beat or otherwise willfully maltreat” the child on more than one occasion.
Taylor currently has a preliminary hearing set for June 18 at 9 a.m., according to records.
