A Madison County man was arrested Wednesday night after his father was critically wounded in a stabbing.

Madison County Sheriff’s spokesman Brent Patterson said the incident happened about 7 p.m. in the 100 block of Williams Circle.

Howard Smith, 58, was transported to Huntsville Hospital in critical condition from a stab wound.

Doyle Gene Smith, 33, was charged with first degree aggravated assault of a family member with a knife.

He is being held in the Madison County Jail without bond.
