Alabama man accused of forcing girlfriend into prostitution charged with human trafficking
An Alabama man whose girlfriend claimed he forced her into prostitution has been charged with human trafficking, authorities said.
Chilton County sheriff’s deputies responded to a welfare check Sunday in unincorporated Jemison, where they found a “female subject who reported being forced into prostitution with her current boyfriend,” the sheriff’s office said Thursday.
The case was forwarded to the Chilton County Special Operations Unit, which led to warrants against Juan Carlos Marciel-Dominguez on charges of first-degree human trafficking, the sheriff’s office said.
The special operations unit apprehended Marciel-Dominguez, 29, of Jemison, on Wednesday.
During the operation, Marciel-Dominguez fled from authorities both in a vehicle and on foot but was eventually taken into custody, the sheriff’s office said.
Chilton County jail records showed Marciel-Dominguez remained held in the lockup Friday on $500,000 bond.
The investigation remained ongoing.
