Alabama man, 76, killed when towed motorcycle breaks free from truck
A 76-year-old Florence man is dead from injuries he received in a crash last Thursday, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Cpl. Reginal M. King of ALEA said the incident happened at about 2:25 p.m. Thursday on Lauderdale County 6 about 12 miles west of Florence.
Donald E. Fowlkes was critically injured when the 2017 Harley-Davidson Tri Glide motorcycle he was operating disconnected from a tow provided by a 1991 Mitsubishi pickup, driven by George Fowlkes, 81, of Florence.
Donald Fowlkes’ motorcycle left the roadway and overturned, injuring him.
He was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital and died Sunday from his injuries, King said.
Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
