Alabama Krispy Kreme closed after social media post triggers ‘emergency orders’
A Krispy Kreme location in Montgomery is closed following social media reports of unsafe conditions inside the building.
A spokesperson for the Alabama Department of Public Health said the State Health Officer issued emergency orders to “cease all operations until repairs are made.”
“The facility may not reopen until repairs and an inspection are complete,” the department spokesperson said.
The closure happened after a social media post Monday shared photos that purported to be from inside the restaurant showing a spill.
WSFA in Montgomery is reporting that Krispy Kreme, in a statement, said it made the decision to close.
“The images of our Montgomery, AL shop circulating on social media are the aftermath of an equipment malfunction and subsequent ingredient overflow. We made the decision to close the shop until the issues are addressed and the shop is cleaned to ensure the safety of our team members.”
There is no timetable for when the store may reopen.
