Alabama infant hospitalized with skull fracture, brain bleed; Blount County father charged
An Alabama father is behind bars, accused of critically injuring his infant son.
Destin Chase Tidwell, 26, is charged with aggravated child abuse in Blount County, according to court records made public Thursday.
Tidwell, of Blountsville, was booked into the Blount County Jail Wednesday, where he remains held.
Charging documents against Tidwell state his 2-month-old son suffered a skull fracture with a brain bleed.
The boy’s mother took him to the hospital, and he was then airlifted to Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham. He is expected survive.
Details about what led up the severe injuries have not yet been made public.
“I was heartbroken to see the photos of the child in this case,’’ said Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey. “As a mother of two small children, I was physically sick.”
