Alabama hoops schedules home-and-home series with high-major opponent
As Nate Oats navigates the transfer portal and replaces his entire staff of assistant coaches, he is also busy assembling his schedule for next season.
Alabama will travel to Omaha, Nebraska next season to play Creighton as begin a home-and-home series, the Omaha World-Herald reported Monday.
Creighton bolsters what Oats prefers to be a difficult non-conference schedule for Alabama that already features a neutral-site game against Arizona in Phoenix this December. Alabama will also participate in the Emerald Coast Classic in Florida this November, FanDuel reported last year. The field, which has yet to be officially announced, will also include Ohio State and Oregon.
The Blue Jays finished third in the Big East this past season, earning a No. 6 seed in the NCAA tournament — the program’s fifth consecutive appearance. They lost to San Diego State in the Elite Eight, a game that could have instead featured Alabama had the Tide not lost in the Sweet 16.
Alabama and Creighton have met twice previously, both Blue Jays wins, in the 2012 NCAA tournament and 2016 NIT.
Among mid-major opponents, Alabama is expected to host South Alabama to wrap up a 2-for-1 series that began in 2021.
