Alabama high school graduation party ends with 1 teen dead, 1 injured and another in jail
A juvenile was arrested Friday by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Department in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred earlier this month.
On May 11, 2025, at approximately 1:51 am, sheriffs responded to a call regarding a shooting at the dead end of Tom Hopkins Road, according to a recent release.
The suspect, who was not publicly identified, is charged with felony murder and robbery.
The initial investigation indicates that a graduation party for Citronelle High School students was held at a home on Tom Hopkins Road.
The homeowner dispersed the party around midnight, and then a group moved to the cul-de-sac at the dead end of the road, sheriffs said.
An argument ensued, and two individuals were shot.
The victims have been identified as Zachary Morgan, 18, and Jaylon Rivers, 19.
Zachary Morgan was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Jaylon Rivers was taken in a personal vehicle to a residence on Wiggins Fork Road in Mt. Vernon, where he later died from his injuries.
This is an ongoing investigation, according to the release.
