Alabama high school coach arrested for allegedly having sex with student
An Alabama high school assistant basketball coach resigned after he was arrested for allegedly having sex with a student.
Jeremy Russell, a paraprofessional and assistant coach at Bibb County High School, is facing three counts of being a school employee engaging in sex with a student, WVUA reported.
State court records did not list any charges against Russell, but Bibb County Schools said Tuesday that Russell was arrested Monday, according to WVUA.
In a statement from the superintendent’s office, the district said the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office began investigating allegations of an inappropriate relationship between a student and school district employee.
In announcing Russell’s arrest, the district identified him as a paraprofessional who also serves as assistant basketball coach at Bibb County High School.
Russell submitted a letter of resignation to the district, which was accepted, the statement said.
Additional information about the allegations was not available.
