Alabama guard Mark Sears named co-SEC basketball player of the week
After a pair of conference wins and 53 points across two games, Alabama men’s basketball guard Mark Sears was named co-SEC player of the week on Monday.
The Tide (11-5, 3-0) picked up two more conference wins over South Carolina and Mississippi State thanks, in part, to Sears’ performances.
He averaged 26.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 61.5% from 3-point range.
It was the first weekly honor from the SEC in Sears’ career. Sears transferred to Tuscaloosa ahead of UA”s run to the Sweet 16. The guard entered this season with high expectations as the lone returning starter from a year ago and has exceeded them. He leads the conference with 20.3 points per game.
Tennessee fifth-year year guard Dalton Knect was the other honoree by the conference.
Alabama hosts Missouri on Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT in Coleman Coliseum.
