Alabama furniture store employee charged in 3 sexual assaults inside business

An employee of an Opelika furniture store has been charged with sexually assaulting three women at the business.

Dominique Marcus Hammond, 39, of Opelika, is charged with first-degree sodomy, first-degree sexual abuse, two counts of indecent exposure, three counts of unlawful imprisonment, and one count of assault with a bodily fluid, according to Opelika police and court records.

The investigation began in June when police received a report of sexual abuse at Aaron’s Furniture on Gateway Drive. The victim reported being assaulted June 1 by Hammond, who was an employee of the store.

During the investigation, two more victims came forward, police said.

Hammond was arrested on Friday and remains in the Lee County Jail.

Charging documents against Hammond state he grabbed one of the victims by the neck, restrained her in the business’s office against her will, and engaged in deviate sexual intercourse, which led to the charges of sodomy and unlawful imprisonment.

The sex abuse charged states Hammond inappropriately touched a second victim with his mouth and his hands. He also is charged with indecent exposure and unlawful imprisonment in that case.

Court records indicate Hammond masturbated in front of the third victim, which led to the assault with a bodily fluid charge as well charges for indecent exposure and unlawful imprisonment.

Police did not say if the victims were store customers.
